How net salary is calculated in Serbia in 2026
Serbia taxes salaries with a flat 10% income tax plus mandatory social contributions. Three numbers matter on every payslip:
- Gross 1 (bruto 1) is the salary written in the contract, before income tax and the employee's contributions.
- Net (neto) is what lands in the bank account.
- Gross 2 (bruto 2) is gross 1 plus the employer's contributions: the real cost of the job.
Employee contributions are 19.9% of gross: 14% pension and disability (PIO), 5.15% health and 0.75% unemployment. Income tax is 10% of gross minus the non-taxable amount of 34,221 RSD. The employer adds 15.15% on top: 10% pension and 5.15% health.
Contributions are calculated on a base between 51,297 RSD and 732,820 RSD a month. Above the ceiling only income tax keeps growing, which is why very high salaries lose a smaller share of their gross.
Shortcut formula
Gross = (Net − 3,422.10) / 0.701
Valid for gross salaries between the two contribution bases. In 2025 the constant was 2,842.30; it changed because the non-taxable amount rose from 28,423 to 34,221 RSD on 1 January 2026.
